AR GOALS

For the first nine weeks of 2023-2024, only

13% of our student population in grades K-5 did NOT make their AR goals.

We expect all of our Britt David Bulldogs to reach 100% of their Accelerated Reader (AR) goals every nine weeks. What are their goals? 100% of their point goal with an 85% average.  Classroom teachers monitor and encourage students to meet this goal.

This school year we are recognizing students who reach 200% of their point goal with a 90% average!  On average, we have 20% of our students who meet this expectation on their own.  We are looking forward to seeing how many more students are encouraged to meet this higher goal!

Why is AR important?

Reading is a skill that requires instruction AND practice.  Practice doesn't automatically lead to growth, so AR helps us make sure students are practicing reading at the right level of difficulty, for the right amount of time, and understand what they are reading.   Their reading goals are determined by taking STAR which gives each student a reading range.  Your child's reading range allows them to choose a wide range of reading materials to enjoy while reaching their nine-week AR goals.

Help us monitor your child's reading progress by signing up for AR Home Connect!  You can sign up for email notification each time your child takes an AR test.
